Tourist Attraction
Rosarito’s beaches, cultural events, and mild climate attract more than 1 million visitors each year, consolidating tourism as an economic pillar. Sustainable tourism projects such as improvements to coastal infrastructure and the promotion of events are being developed to maximize economic impact while preserving the natural environment.
Rosarito is a well-established destination. Its offerings range from its famous beach and renovated boardwalks to the Wine Route and the renowned Puerto Nuevo lobster. Large scale events like the Baja Beach Fest draw tens of thousands of international visitors. Residential tourism is also a key pillar: it is estimated that around 15% of the population consists of expatriates, primarily U.S. and Canadian retirees and remote workers, attracted by the climate, the significantly lower cost of living compared to California, and the strong sense of community.

Convention Center Zone
The municipality was chosen to host the Metropolitan Convention Center as part of specialized urban service infrastructure at the regional level, aimed at strengthening the metropolitan area. Its construction is a strategic project of the State Government for the tourism positioning of the municipalities of Tijuana, Tecate, and Playas de Rosarito.
This facility has a significant impact on state economic development, as its area of influence promotes exhibitions, as well as tourism, cultural, and technological events, establishing itself as a hub for international conventions.
